Countless souls yearn for a profound connection with the Divine, seeking to bridge the gap between the earthly realm and the ethereal. Yet, the very act of “wanting” implies a void, a sense of absence that can inadvertently repel the very essence one longs to embrace.
For many, belief is based on faith and serves as a conduit to the Divine. Yet often, these beliefs are inherited rather than personally discovered. They are doctrines handed down by tradition, not born of individual revelation.
True spiritual seekers, however, delve beyond mere belief systems, seeking instead a direct communion with the Divine—a knowing or state of “gnosis” where the sacred intertwines with the personal. In this state, one’s understanding is not borrowed but emanates from an inner connection to the Divine Light.
Nag Hammadi Revelation
Over two millennia ago, a trove of ancient texts, believed to contain the enigmatic teachings of Jesus and his closest disciples, lay concealed in the sands of Nag Hammadi. Unearthed in 1945, these manuscripts unveiled a hidden tapestry of spiritual wisdom, foundational to several canonical gospels. Yet, their exclusion from mainstream acceptance only solidified their reverence among those who understood their depth.
These cryptic writings echoed a call to awaken the latent connection with the Divine—a call to embrace a profound “knowing” beyond the confines of conventional faith. In the words attributed to Jesus, “Many are called, while few are chosen,” resonating as an invitation to those willing to listen, to those ready to heed the whisper of divine truth.
These Gnostic teachings survived underground in jars for many years and were secretly passed through whispers across the generations. Those who seek true awareness and connection with the Divine have persevered and persisted through eons of time with multitudes of trials and tribulations. Yet, that makes growing into the knowing all the more treasured. For when you know a thing, there is no need to force it on anyone else. One simply enjoys sharing with like-minded others, offering personal encouragement for those who choose to seek that they may find their own inner-light connection with the Divine.
The Essence of Spiritual Truth
When someone forces a belief on another it is a sign of being indoctrinated into a system that is based on power and control. Do as I say… or you will suffer God’s wrath! Some people may benefit from this disciplined approach, while the more free-spirited individuals feel uncomfortable in a spiritual practice where they are told what to do, think, and believe. Obey the rules or you will be frowned on by this version of God. Does that suit you?
Once I was asked to deliver a sermon at a local Universal Unitarian church, a community that was supposedly open to all spiritual practices and people, without discrimination. I became puzzled when instructed not to use the word “Lord” and they refused to play my favorite song “Here I Am Lord”. Ultimately, I came to realize this was simply one of the “rules of belonging” to that specific sect or cult of religious dogma. My time with that congregation was short-lived. Between their extreme political bias and so many mixed messages, it proved to be a place of untruth for me.
The Wisdom of the Gnostic Gospels
Over the years I have developed a keen spiritual awareness that is based on insights gained from thousands of spiritual journeys. Between client sessions, channeled experiences, team gatherings, and personal connections, I have become very aware of the need to discern the origin of messages received from beyond. There are many imposters. As we reach for insight and guidance, we must be discerning of the truth that comes from Divine Teachers of the Light.
Recently inspired to lift the “The Gnostic Gospels” and “The Lost Gospel Q” from my bookshelf, I re-read their fascinating text with new eyes. After several decades, I am impressed with how similar these ancient teachings of Jesus and his disciples are to the insights I’ve gathered from Divine messengers over a lifetime of experiential growth.
