I have long been dedicated to my country and all the beauty she has to offer. Child of an Army officer, I grew up on military bases, worked for the Army as a medical professional, was the wife and mother of soldiers, and am the godmother of a special ops Marine. My recent membership as a Daughter of the American Revolution has stimulated an increased patriotic awareness in me. The DAR is dedicated to historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Our meetings exude patriotism, stating the Pledge of Allegiance that I loved to recite as a child, the Preamble to the Constitution, and this American’s Creed. Did you know…
The American’s Creed
“I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed, a democracy in a republic, a sovereign Nation of many sovereign States; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes. I, therefore, believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its Constitution, to obey its laws, to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies.”
