Three Tips to Quit Smoking

quit smoking with hypnosisHow many times have you tried to quit smoking?  Still struggling with the nasty habit?  A habit that you know is harmful to your health, your relationships and your finances.  Intellectually, you know you want to quit smoking, yet that old habit always draws you back….

Think about this… when you change the way you think about smoking, you change the habit of smoking.  Can you think of smoking as just an old, unhealthy relationship that you know is harmful to you?  Think of them as just a nasty old habit that you want to be free of so that you can be happier and healthier.

Consider your family and friends who truly love you and want you to be healthy.  Think of making them happy too.

Here are some useful tips to prepare your mind for the transition – to become a non-smoker, an ex-smoker, a former smoker.

Three hypnosis tips to change your mind about smoking:

  1. Believe that you can do it – make a commitment to yourself. Commit to yourself that you are releasing the smoking habit… that you are taking care of your life and your health.  Know that it is important for you to be free of the physical, mental and financial pain that smoking caused you.  Believe that you deserve a new life of health, energy and vitality.  As you prepare to release the old unhealthy habit, think of how your life will be better without them. What matters most is that you believe that CAN ACHIEVE your goal… in the perfect time.
  2. Talk with yourself – say good-by to your smokes. Remind yourself that you intend to regain the power that smoking used to have over you.  Let your cigarettes know that they are leaving and will soon be a thing of the PAST.  As you prepare yourself to release them, CONGRATULATE yourself for making healthy choices.  And BREATHE!
  3. See yourself as a former smoker – get visual – take action! Notice what happens when you see yourself becoming an ex-smoker, a former smoker.  Imagine finding other things to do with your time:  take a fresh air breath break, have a glass of water, go for a walk, read a book, talk to a friend, listen to music, dance, sing or play the harmonica.  As people find new habits, they automatically reduce the amount they smoke… less and less each day.  Eventually, you will find it easy replace a small old habit with something that you enjoy so much more.

As you tell yourself that smoking is becoming a thing of your past, your mind will start believing it and the habit will release itself.  When you focus on other things to do, smoking becomes less important and you will simply forget to smoke.  Eventually the old habit will feel strange and the smoking will stop.
