Clear Your Vision for A New You

Happy New Year! Welcome in the New Decade! Let’s set your sights clearly in the year 2020 (the clarity of 20-20) for some stretch goals. What do you want to achieve in this New Decade? What do you intend? What is your clear vision for yourself? We usually choose specific goals based on desired outcomes: we want a new this, a better that, more of something else. With goal-oriented intention, we can accomplish anything we put our minds to, and our effort on. Indeed, I help many clients set and achieve goals by first taking time to review what transpired in the past year: what worked, what didn’t, and what could be improved. Following that reflective exercise, I invite them to get a clear vision of where they see themselves at a specific time in the future. Finally, I encourage them to establish action-based goals that are measurable, achievable, and some that are a bit of a stretch… like writing a book!

What if… we also set our sights more personally? Think about yourself as a person. If you could choose one thing to change about yourself, what would that be: eat healthier, exercise more, get better sleep, spend more time with family? All of these are great choices. However, let’s think about who you want to be… more kind, more compassionate, more giving… with yourself and with others. What would happen if we were more mindful, less critical, and looked for something good in everyone? Start with the words we say. Pause and take a moment to think about what is about to come out of your mouth because you can’t take it back. Does it pass the three-part test: Is it true? Is it hurtful? Is it helpful? There are too many people spewing opinionated comments directly to others, and indirectly to large groups via social media. Without being mindful, we can easily spread negativity, despair, and hopelessness. Maybe if we showed extra care with our words, we could spread more cheer, more hope, and even be less stressed ourselves.

Let these gentle yet powerful lyrics from the song Hands sung by Jewel play in your mind:

…My hands are small, I know
But they’re not yours they are my own
And I am never broken
In the end only kindness matters
In the end only kindness matters…

Only kindness matters… My challenge to you for this New Decade 2020 is to set a goal to spread more kindness, more care, more compassion. With our world being steeped in so much negativity, what if we started a movement to bring peace to each other, one thought, one word, one person at a time. My hope is that only good will come of it. When you share a kind word or gesture to make another person feel good, the positive energy is contagious, making you feel wonderful too. My dear friend Denise always pays the toll for the next person when she goes through a toll booth. This is such a simple act, yet her thoughtfulness brightens everyone involved, especially the toll person who gets to receive and share the good news!

There are many people who inspire others every day, doing kind, caring, and compassionate things that come from their heart. Help me shine the light on these good people. I am delighted to host a “good news” radio show called Inspiring Hope with Lois Hermann. It is a pleasure to spotlight everyday folks, hear their stories, and learn their secret solutions toward staying positive in the wake of stress. Let us know who you might like us to celebrate too. My goal is to inspire hope for each of us, to shift this world in a more positive direction and make our world a better place. Let’s get the good news out there! Set your sights to tune into the live show at 9:00 Sunday mornings on WSMN 1590 AM. Listen afterwards on the websites and Facebook pages listed below.

Let’s light this decade with a clear vision filled with positive energy. And, if you have a friend who could use assistance achieving personal or professional goals, invite them to schedule an Initial Consultation with us at LoisHermann.com/Contacts or call 844-777-7812.

My hope for you is a year… a decade… filled with peace, health, and appreciation. May you be surrounded by dear friends, create wonderful memories, and treasure our beloved gifts of nature.

Many Blessings for a Hopeful and Happy New Decade,

Lois Hermann

Hands by Jewel

If I could tell the world just one thing
It would be that we’re all ok
And not to worry because worry is wasteful
And useless in times like these
I will not be made useless
I won’t be idled with despair
I will gather myself around my faith
For light does the darkness most fear

My hands are small, I know,
But they’re not yours they are my own
But they’re not yours they are my own
And I am never broken

Poverty stole your golden shoes
But it didn’t steal your laughter
And heartache came to visit me
But i knew it wasn’t ever after

We will fight, not out of spite
For someone must stand up for what’s right
Cause where there’s a man who has no voice
There ours shall go singing

My hands are small, I know,
But they’re not yours they are my own
But they’re not yours they are my own
And I am never broken

In the end only kindness matters
In the end only kindness matters

I will get down on my knees and I will pray
I will get down on my knees and I will pray
I will get down on my knees and I will pray

My hands are small, I know,
But they’re not yours they are my own
But they’re not yours they are my own
And I am never broken

My hands are small, i know,
But they’re not yours they are my own
But they’re not yours they are my own
And I am never broken

We are never broken

We are God’s eyes God’s hands God’s mind
We are God’s eyes God’s hands God’s heart
We are God’s eyes God’s hands God’s eyes God’s hands
We are God’s hands God’s hands We are God’s hands
