images (10)Remember these song lyrics? “Slow down, you move too fast. You got to make the morning last.”  Well, if we don’t take the time to slow down, the universe will help us; nudge us to slow down a bit. Yes indeed, I felt like I needed a little “break”… So, I got my wish.

Things have been going so well these days. Everything has been wonderful in my world – wonderful home and family, friends and clients, with lots of social and networking opportunities. Everything in my world is happy, wonderful and busy. It’s almost like there’s too much of a good thing. Like too many chocolate chip cookies; too much ice cream; too much of any good thing… is just TOO much.

So, I had a lovely slip and fall on my mossy garden steps last week, breaking both bones in my arm. It caused me to really slow down and take inventory; to take a good look at what is truly important in life. To look at all the wonderful people around me that are nurturing and caring and giving and be ever so grateful for each of you.

I am also grateful for all the wonderful opportunities presented in life and realize that we can’t be like a kid loose in a candy shop. We can’t seize every single opportunity that presents itself. We have to slow down and choose wisely.

Reflecting on the “Teen Success Program” coming up July 14th, I am wondering what insight should be shared with these interesting young people as they think about what they would like to do with their lives. My suggestion… Don’t move so fast. Yes, do what gives you joy, yet… Pace Yourself. Be more like the tortoise; less like the hare that moves fast, fast, fast. S-l-o-w  d-o-w-n and enjoy the journey. It is a journey, after all – a journey to become whomever we choose to be.

Take the time to enjoy the journey. Yes, we do need to set our intentions and take appropriate action. Then, as we steadily apply ourselves each day… over time… we will ultimately reach our desired destination. “Life, I love you… all is groovy!”

Enjoy The Moments of Your Journey!
